RELATED PROJECTS

Global Mapping of Faith-Inspired Organizations and Development
The Berkley Center, in conjunction with the World Faiths Development Dialogue (WFDD), is undertaking a global mapping exercise to capture the activities of faith-inspired organizations across world regions. Through a series of background reports, in-depth interviews with practitioners, and international symposia, the Faith-Inspired Organizations and Development project charts organizations anchored in particular faith traditions or with ecumenical or interfaith approaches that are engaged in global development agendas, including poverty relief, education, and the struggle against HIV/AIDs and malaria. Project reviews to date have focused on the United States, the Muslim World, Europe and Africa, and Central and South America. Preparatory work for a review of faith-inspired organizations in Asia has begun. The aim is to continue the “mapping” work and exploration of various policy dimensions.

Religion and Global Development Issues Survey
The Berkley Center is conducting a multi-year survey of critical issues at the intersection of religion and development. Project publications and associated events track the engagement of faith-inspired organizations around a set of core policy challenges, with an emphasis on common problems, ethical commitments, and best practices. The project, supported by the Luce/SFS Program on Religion and International Affairs, has already addressed HIV/AIDs, Gender, and Shelter. Future issue areas will include governance, children, education, and malaria.

Practitioners and Faith-Inspired Development
"What is the role of faith in your work?" The Practitioners and Faith-Inspired Development interview series asks this fundamental question of leaders in the field. The assembled in-depth conversations with activists and policy specialists examine best practices and collaborative strategies across a range of contemporary challenges, including HIV/AIDS, malaria, education, governance, shelter, and gender.
